The-God-Who-Sees-Me

I'm reading through the Historical Bible Reading Guide and I'm in Genesis. Today I read about Hagar. Sarah banished her from their home and she wondered in the desert with her son. When she couldn't go on any longer, they had no water, no food she sat her little boy under a tree and walked to a different spot.  She couldn't bear the thought of watching her baby die. But God rescued her.

I read the Women of Faith Study Bible, it has little excerpts at the sides of each page from the Women of Faith ladies. The excerpt about Hagar's life really stuck out at me today and I wanted to share with you.

Hagar, the pregnant maidservant of Sarah, had fled into the wilderness. She (evidently) just wanted to die. But God sent an angel who found her and told her to go back home, even though it wasa the hardest place to go. He then predicted that the child born to her would be a wild man who wouldn't get along with anybody. Now I don't know about you, but if I were Hagar, that's not exactly what I would have wanted to hear. Hagar's response, however, was to call God  a name that had never been used before: The - God - Who - Sees - Me. And she accepted what He said. Yes our God is the all-knowing One who sees our scars, our secrets and our strength. Our wounds and shame are His affair, and He knows just hwo much trouble we can stand. Somehow, the fact that He knows us so well makes a difference. We understand there is a direction and we are part of a bigger picture. From the wildernesses in our lives, the fact that He sees us gives usa  reason to carry on. ~ Barbara Johnson

God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from Heaven and said to her, "What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid. God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him in to a great nation." Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink. Genesis 21:17-19

God sees us, when we are tired, weary, scared, sad, angry, He sees us and He will lift us up out of our problems. He gives us strength to carry on. He is faithful to forgive, and His love never ends. I read a post from Mothers on Mission today  - God is bigger than my worry, my angry heart, my stress.

I draw near to You God, You see me and will be with me every step of the way. I think God is trying to tell me something today...I will lean on Him today.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

I've just finished reading that chapter last week. And as I was reading it I thought to myself how many times do we do as Sarah did would we allow our spouses to sleep with someone to have a baby? And if we didn't look at the times when we ignore what God tells us to do, we can't wait for the promise to come to us we go after other things in hoping the promise will come soon. But in her not waiting for God, God blessed them both anyway. God blessed Hagar when she was in the desert and needed water and God blessed Sarah and gave her a son.
