60 - Second Love Challenge

I listen to a Christian radio station every day on my way to work..I've included a link so you can listen to it here if you'd like.

Today the morning show host Lisa Williams mentioned a 60 second love challenge and I wanted to share it with you.

What's the most important minute of your day? Take a second and think about that...is it when you take your first sip of coffee in the morning, when you finally get to relax and lay your head on a pillow at the end of a long day?

For me the happiest minute of my day would be when my time-clock hit's 4:30 and I'm free from the confines that I call a job.

The 60 Second Love Challenge is changing the most important minute of your day to focus on your spouse/significant other. When my husband was working, he would pick me up from work and instantly go in to complaining about his job..how they treated him, what they asked him to do on that day and the work gossip that took place. I would get so tired of hearing the complaints it would make me so angry and in turn, our night would end up a not - so - pleasant one. I'm guilty of this also, I will walk in the door irritated from work and the happenings of the day that the minute I see my husband all my unhappiness would get shoved on him.

This challenge calls for you to set your troubles of the day aside and when you see your spouse/significant other walk in the door to make that the most important minute of your day. Give him/her a real hug and a real kiss and let him/her know just how much you love him/her.

I, for one will take this challenge, I'm going to ask God to help me and remind me to give my burdens to Him instead of my husband and make my husband first priority at the end of a long day. I hope you take the challenge with me ~ it sure is a good one!

I heard the same thing this morning, Mandy. I got to thinking about it. How often do I even acknowledge my husband walks in the door? I am ashamed to say that I rarely greet him at the door. We don't 'unload' normally on each other, but it's no better to not even acknowledge they have come home! When I heard them talking on the radio, I decided that I am going to work on this. I definitely think it will make a difference in our night! Thank you for sharing!

We are more like what Debi said, we don't really unload on each other, but the attitude of indifference is just as bad. I want my husband to feel special, loved and happy. I need to make it a priority to meet him when he comes home with a smile and kind word. I accept the challenge!

Great challenge! It's not as easy for me because my husband is working so late, BUT I can try this out at lunch! I'm sort of doing it already in that I'm trying to just be supportive and sympathetic to what he's going through. So, instead of getting frustrated with him, I'm trying to be calm, understanding and just be whatever he needs me to be in that moment... it usually involves just being quiet and not faking it because I'm SO obvious when I'm faking it! Anyway, I like this and I accept the challenge! Blessed day Mandy :)

Mandy,
I just found your blog and I'm loving it! I love this message! When I was working out in the world, I would do this all the time! My husband, on the other hand, will come in and kiss me first.. but it sometimes goes into this same area. I do think that is a great thing to strive for! Thank you so much for sharing it!!

Thank you for this Mandy.. Jenifer got me listening to K-Love online each day as well and I love it!

Shannon (My Wonderful Wife) and I try to do this each day, and it makes a world of difference but now and again we still fall into the "unloading" behavior. This is a great reminder to take a deep breath, and make that important minute count!

Have a Blessed Day!
