About 7 months ago I read a book called Redemption. In the book butterflies were the symbol of second chances. It was a pretty perfect book for my life at the time. (Funny how God does that huh)
I've been thinking a lot about butterflies this week. This beautiful creature starts out as a caterpillar. God had a plan when he made these bugs. They are slightly creepy crawly. Somewhat ugly. They go along in their day to day lives just trying not to get eaten. One day they build themselves a safe haven, fall asleep and God begins to work on them. He forms their wings, their markings and then He wakes them up and sets them free to do His work: To remind us of our second chance at life.
2010 was a year of second chances for me. It was a year of redemption. It started out as me just trying not to get eaten and ended with God moving. He continues to move, and continues to mold me in to who He wants me to be. I'm awake now, He has been speaking to me about what I crave more than Him. He revealed, the what and the why and now He can begin working on me.
We all get a second chance when we let God in. More often it's a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, however many chances we need He's there providing because He's our Redeemer. We only have to let Him in to do the work He wants to do. This can sometimes be a painful transformation but just think about the beauty of our wings when the work is finally completed.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
2nd Corinthians 5:17
He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" then He said "write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." Revelation 21:5

Amen! I love that God gives us second chances and that He is creating something beautiful in us. We are His workmanship.
He is a God of second chances! Praise God!
I love the analogy of the caterpillar and the butterfly! It's a sermon I use in Kidz Klub. Great explanation of the work God does in us!
The butterfly is a beautiful example of what God does for us! We are all receivers of 2nd chances! I wouldn't want to be anything else, but His new creation! Thank you!
Wonderful post Mandy, and an excellent analogy!
Through His Love and Guidance, we are all transformed. We simply need to seek Him and Follow the path He sets for us.
Have a Blessed Day!
Thankful for second chances...and sometimes third and fourth ones. Thankful His love is everlasting and mercies are new every morning...
