Temptation

Temptation, it's everywhere. What we watch on TV, what we eat, what we drink, even how we think.

For me the huge temptation is food, there's nothing like a bowl of chocolate peanut butter ice cream to end a long day. (Being completley honest here) Latley I've been doing all I can to learn about the healthy way of eating. I walk in the morning and afternoon on my breaks. I've talked to friends who are doing diets. I've researched as far as the moon to figure this thing out. God has slowly been revealing to me what needs to change ~ mostly the way I view myself.

There's something holding me back though. It's temptation. That little voice that sneaks in and tells me I'm too tired to walk, I should rest. Or the thought that refminds me there's peanut butter chocolate ice cream in the freezer. Not to mention the healthy stuff is sooo much more expensive when you are trying to live on a tight budget like us.

Here's the thinkg though, no matter what you're being tempted by there's a way out. We all have weaknesses, that's why God is right there with us showing us a way through.

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

You know, it's not a sin to be tempted but you do sin when you give in to that temptation. I never knew that..I do now, and thank God I do.

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

Peanut butter chocolate ice cream (or whatever your temptation may be) did not come from Heaven, therefore I will not indulge in that temptation anymore. My body, mind and soul is a Holy Temple for God and I should do my best to keep it free of junk.

Whatever  your temptation may be, if you slip up and give in ~ it's ok! He won't be mad, just confess, repent and move on. That's one of the BEST things about God. He loves us even in our weakness. I fell to worry today until He showed me to worship is a much better way to spend my day.

When we are judged by the Lord we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world. 1 Corinthians 11:32

The reason the enemy tempts you is because he knows the great things God wants to do in your life, and he thinks you are dumb enough to give it all up for a few moments of pleasure. He knows that not only do you stand to lose from it, but other people will be hurt by your sin as well. When you see his trap, tell him you are not going to allow him to destroy your life or anyone else's.  ~ The power of a praying Woman calendar

Oh girl, another thing we have in common! :) I am, well was, addicted to chocolate and peanut butter ice cream. I had it every single night before bed. And, no, I did not share it with anyone! God has helped me to stop that habit. I have to put my faith in Him with my other bad health choices. God created our bodies to function a certain way and when we put things into them that are not good, we are hurting God's work. Thank you for your post!

Wow! I love, LOVE the way God speaks to you and through you! God just keeps revealing Himself more to you everyday - and you are listening and being obedient! Love the quote at the end too! Thanks for posting this. I will put the sugar cookies away now. : )
