Dare to be different

I can't tell you how many times I've told my self  "I wish I was more like her" I wish I had her hair or her looks. I wish I could get my nails done all the time like she does. I wish I could have the same talents as they do. But God meant for us to stand out. We are a holy people meant to stand out and shine for His glory.

Isreal wanted to be just like everyone else. They wanted a king. "But the people refused to listen to Samuel. No! they said. We want a king over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us to fight our battles."  1st Samuel 8:19

They wanted a king to fight their battles, to jump their obsticles for them so they wouldn't have to do the work. God wanted to be their king and God tried time and time again to let them know they were to be set apart. They were special.

There's a reason why I don't have "her" looks or "their" talents. I'm set apart. We all have a purpose. We're different, different passions, different talents because that's exactly how God wants us to be. Everything that I have is perfect for me and according to His perfect plan.

If you're different (which you probably are, smiles) that's a good thing. Embrace the uniqueness and let it stand out ~ chances are God will use it for something amazing. I wonder what God would have done with the Isrealites had they embraced their uniqueness instead of trying to be like everyone else.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made...in HIS image! I, too, have had these same thoughts, Mandy! I am never satisfied with...me. I want to have the perfect, perky hair that 'she' has. I want to be 'bold' like he is. I want, I want, I want. Why is it that we are never satisfied with the way that God has made us? Well, I may not be 'satisfied' with how God made me...but I do know...He made me and He has a plan and a purpose for me and my life. If I focus on THAT...the other doesn't seem so important. Mandy, remember, God is the One that has planned and purposed YOU! Being human, I don't think we will ever be fully satisfied with 'me,' but God expects that. As long as there are other 'humans' on this earth...there will be someone to whom we look and say, "I wish I was like that." Great post! And besides...I am so glad that we are all different! How boring would this world be if we were all the same?

There isn't much more to say than what Debi has said. It is amazing how we are never satisfied after God has made us to look the way we do. It is to bad we don't know why but we do need to learn to appreciate the way we are, perhaps we need to ask God to help us understand and accept the way we are. He knew best anyway. Great post and blessings to you.

Your post goes along with Jenifer's verse today on her blog. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. God made us each differently. If He wanted us all to be the same, He would have made us that way. We all are different parts of one body and so we complete each other. Great post! There could never be a more beautiful you. :)

Great post Mandy. Like Lisa said, I posted "we are fearfully and wonderfully made." Candace Cameron Bure says "It's fun to look pretty and feel good while doing it, but I often remind myself that this outer shell is an empty envelope for my spirit. The contents are precious, eternal and costly, bought with a price, and the envelope has been fashioned by the world's greatest designer, the Creator Himself. We are each God's one-of-a-kind design and there isn't a single person in this world that has a match." We were made special and different. I want to embrace how God made me.

Great message Mandy! We were all created to serve God's Will in different and unique ways, so we should embrace those distinctions as Blessings!

Have a Blessed Day!

Being set apart means that we have left the ways of the world, and is living in total obedience. It has nothing to do with humanness.

Human beings are not created in the image of GOD, but the Spirit within you has. Human beings are imperfect, whereas the Spirit within you [if you are from GOD] is perfect, Holy and sacred.

GOD'S purpose is not for individuals, but it is the same purpose for everyone. His Purpose for us, is that living on earth, we come to the realization that we cannot live without Him.

To wish or think you are not good enough is not being humble, but shows that you have esteem issues. We are enough as we are, no matter what you do, or what your "abilities" are. No one is more important as anyone else, as Christ showed when he washed the disciples feet.

Our uniqueness is within GOD, meaning, we have come to realize that we cannot live without GOD. The uniqueness is that from those who don't... once again being "set apart"

GOD Bless and take care!
