Be HIS Today

I for one, do not enjoy Valentine's Day. This Holiday is centered around materializing love. Girls are hurt when they don't receive flowers or chocolates or a card. We base our existence on whether or not our spouse or significant other chooses to go that extra mile to show us their love.

People everywhere chase love around just hoping they will be shown love when God is standing right in front of them trying to flag them down and tell them HE IS Love, and He DOES love.

I'm not happy to admit that I was one of these people for so long. I would get so hurt, so upset when my husband didn't cook me a nice meal or didn't buy those flowers I thought I just had to have. Just this morning we had a "disagreement" and thoughts started running through my head about how he didn't love me, didn't he know what day it was, you're not supposed to "disagree" on Valentine's Day.

To me it's meaningless, God's love is sweet, it's unlike anything I've ever experienced in my entire life. God doesn't need to send me a flower or card to show me He loves me, He gave His son to die for me.

As I find out who I am in Him, then I can rest easy in who I am to my husband. I'm a child of God and Valentine's Day is a marketed Holiday created by the world. God's love is every day, it's for everyone and the gift of life is so much better than the gift of flowers, and might I add much less expensive too (smiles)

Isaiah 43:1 Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name, you are Mine.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Will YOU be HIS today?

Mandy, like you said God is our true love. He is always there and we should always remember Him, every single day. Yes, the world has made this day for their own but we should be happy in it as we should be every day. Thanks for the great post. Blessings to you.

God is all the Love we will ever need. Like you said, we need to find our identity in Jesus. He is perfect love.

I WILL be His today and everyday! I like when you said, "God doesn't need to send me a flower or card to show me He loves me, He gave His son to die for me." I too was one of those who thought Valentines Day was another way to make girls feel bad! If I had only allowed myself to abide in God's love during those lonely times. Jesus is the one true rose!

I echo your Valentine sentiments sweet friend... I was one of those people once too! God's love is the only love that really fills all of those needs we have anyway. We don't get into vday at our house and I am not bothered by it one bit. Well, the kids do exchanges and stuff, but my husband and I don't get cards or candy or go out for dinner. I'd rather be random about those things mostly because I don't like the commercialized trap and I'd rather go out on a night when everyone else isn't :)I don't need the calendar to remind me or my husband that we love each other! Blessings :)
