Contentment

Tomorrow is my husband's payday. A dreaded day in my mind. It always reminds me of what we don't have, how far behind we are.

Today, however, was different. Instead of thinking about the bad stuff payday brought, I opened my Bible. I wanted and needed to see what God says about money.

Keep your lives free from the love of money. Be content with what you have, because God has said, "never will I leave you, never will I forsake you."
Hebrews 13:5
Content...I didn't really understand that word...

Content ~ Adj. Mentally or emotionally satisfied with things as they are.

But Godliness with contentment is great with gain. For we brought nothing into the world and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
1st Timothy 6:10

Oh ok God I get it...What I do have is far greater than what I don't have in the bank. Times are difficult but my God is a BIG God. Much bigger than our debt.

I have a roof over my head. I have food or a way to get food in the fridge. I have a family who loves me and a God who died so I could know him.

All I have to do is pray and He will show me out of this hole that seems to be unbeatable. He picked me out of billions ~ of course He's going to show me the way.

God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised those who love Him.
James 1:12

When I start to get down about money, or the lack thereof, I start praising God for what I do have. Praise Him I slept in a bed last night with a roof over my head. Praise Him I had a shower today. Praise Him I had a meal today. Yes, when we feel down about what we do not have, we need to praise for what we do have. Thank you so much for the reminder!
